It’s easy to get caught up in ideas we create in our minds. We’ve all been there—anticipating how an experience will unfold, only to find that reality doesn’t match our expectations. This is true for both travel and life experiences. When confronted with the real thing and thrown into novelty we often panic. Evidently, humans are creatures of habit, so we naturally experience distress when stepping into unfamiliar territory. This phenomenon, known as culture shock, is something many travelers encounter. The new culture, smells, and sights can be vastly different from the culture we are accustomed to.
Yet, it's precisely in these moments of discomfort that the potential for transformation arises. When we move beyond our preconceived notions and fully immerse ourselves in the present moment, we open our hearts to new perspectives.
